Healthcare in Utah
Healthcare is personal — and Jeneanne knows that from experience.
Lock in Healthcare.
As a survivor of two cancers and a person living with a disability, Jeneanne has navigated the maze of health insurance, medical debt, and Medicaid firsthand. During the second half of her cancer treatments, she relied on Medicaid to access the care she needed. She understands the anxiety of opening a medical bill you aren’t sure you can pay — and the impossible choices families face when coverage gaps leave them exposed.
In District 21, many of our neighbors work in jobs that don’t offer employer-sponsored insurance, or they earn too much to qualify for Medicaid but too little to afford coverage on the marketplace. Utah’s Medicaid expansion was a critical step forward, but gaps remain — and rising costs continue to put care out of reach for too many families.
In the Utah Legislature, Jeneanne will work to:
Protect and strengthen Medicaid so that the safety net is there when Utahns need it most — during a health crisis, a job loss, or a difficult transition.
Lower prescription drug costs by supporting state-level efforts to increase pricing transparency and negotiate better rates for Utahns.
Expand access to community health centers and mobile clinics in underserved neighborhoods on the Westside, where residents often face longer travel times and fewer providers.
Invest in mental and behavioral health services, including school-based mental health programs and crisis intervention resources that meet people where they are.
Address maternal health disparities that disproportionately affect women of color and low-income women in our district, including access to prenatal care, postpartum support, and midwifery services.
Advocate for medical debt protections that prevent a single illness from becoming a financial catastrophe for families who are already living paycheck to paycheck.
Jeneanne believes that no one should have to choose between paying rent and seeing a doctor. Healthcare is a human need, and she’ll fight to make it more accessible and affordable for every family in District 21.
