Jeneanne Lock’s Statement of Purpose for Running for Utah House District 21
I would love to become your next Representative for Utah House District 21. My lived experiences combined with years of involvement in the communities where I live and work have prepared me to serve in this role. I offer perspectives, insights, and lived experiences that will help me represent all of my constituents as I serve on committees, approve budgets, listen to others’ proposals, vote on bills and prepare my own bills to propose in the state legislature. As a lifelong Democrat, I believe in public policy that supports people from all walks of life. I support policies that champion families, education, health and the environment. In my lifetime, I have experienced times of abundance as well as times of economic struggle and hardship. As a single parent, I know what it is like to work multiple jobs to make ends meet. I remember spending a large percentage of my paycheck on childcare when my children were young. As a survivor of two cancers and a person with a disability, I know what it is like to navigate health insurance and medical debt. During the second half of my cancer treatments, I relied on Medicaid. I empathize with those struggling to pay the rent or their mortgage each month because of rising costs of housing in our state. As your representative, I will listen to you, your aspirations, and your struggles. I will advocate for you and always be mindful of you as I represent you in the state legislature where decisions are made that will affect your daily life. I hope to earn your vote to become your next Representative in Utah House District 21. I appreciate your support and your vote! Together, let’s make Utah a place where each one of us can and will thrive.
